A (fun) Substack about Pilates, Writing and Life? Why not!
I love writing. And movement. And life. Here's where I aim to bring it all together. I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I enjoy writing it!
This is an image of the floor in my Pilates studio. I love this tile. I love that it looks somehow Tuscan - but it’s really from an overstock pile at Home Depot. I love the colors. And I love the rhythm of the patterns - it’s clIt’s what I look at when
Do you think about Pilates as much as I do?
Probably not. The thing is, I love to think, talk and write about movement. About Pilates. About where it came from, where it’s going, what the principles mean … and all manner of other things. Oh, and I can’t stand taking things too seriously.
Did I mention I LOVE to write?
Now, I’ve written for other people for over 30 years. Somehow, though, I never got around to just writing because I wanted to write. About what I wanted to write about. Just for the heck of it. And I hadn’t found a format where I could just go ahead and do that.
I’d given Substack a passing thought or eleven, but … well, between writing and teaching Pilates, I’m not exactly unbusy. Then, my husband heard about Substack and started one just like that - high time for me to stop overthinking and take the plunge!
So this is my “plunge” - and I’d love to have you along for the ride. I promise the water won’t be cold:)
For now, I’m writing about all the Pilates and movement and life inspo I can find. But tbh, I don’t yet know what it may morph into. And that’s part of the fun of it.
Won’t you come on board?
Of course, you might have questions like:
1. But you already have a website, blog and newsletter for your studio!
That’s right. I even have two, one for writing and one for Pilates.
But not everyone who takes Pilates with me is interested in all of my thoughts on life, liberty and the pursuit of Pilates. And some people who aren’t taking Pilates with me for whatever reason are interested.
This is my “not-business” outlet where I don’t have to deal with things like studio info, Wordpress, Mailchimp etc. and just write about what I write. Because I want my writing and my Pilates to feel like freedom and fun.
2. What are you going to write about?
Pilates, sort of. Movement. Life. Travel. My thoughts and reflections. Joseph Pilates’ quotes and principles and how we might interpret them - or not. Things that happen to catch my eye and make me reflect on things. Probably food, nature and friendship. And the occasional puppy.
3. Why would I want more email? Why?!?
I know, I know. My inbox is jam-packed, too. Pinkie-promise I won’t post more than once a week. Probably more like once a month. Possibly on weekends.
What have you got to lose? It’s free! It might be interesting! (I think so!) And you COULD always delete or unsubscribe. Although of course I hope you won’t.
Ready? Here’s a button.
4. What if I don’t give a cahoot about Pilates?
Subscribe anyway. I promise my thoughts are wide-ranging. I love connecting seemingly unconnected dots. You might like it. Or even start doing something nice for yourself or your body (like, uh, Pilates. Or calling a friend and going for a walk. Or taking some time out of your busy day to let your thoughts roam. Climb a tree. Play with your dog. You get the drift.)
So here’s that button again! Easy peasy! Seriously - come join me! You’ve already read this far, so something is resonating - right?!
.
A picture from when I opened my studio back 2018 that captures how much I love what I do. Welcome!!
5. Thanks for signing up!
I can’t wait to see you in your inbox!
